Falcon Heights, MN is located in Ramsey County bordered to the south and east by St. Paul and to the north by Roseville. Because Falcon Heights is home to both the Minnesota State Fair Grounds and several departments for the University of Minnesota, two-thirds of the 2.3 square mile town area is public land. This keeps the residential population low, with fewer than 6,000 residents.

Much of the residential area is located in the northeast side of town, near Snelling Avenue and Larpenteur Avenue. This makes commuting a snap as Snelling Avenue runs directly into St. Paul and connects with both I-94 to the south and I-35 to the north while Larpenteur Avenue takes you into Minneapolis. Whether you want to visit the Como Park Zoo or the Target Center to watch a Timberwolves game, you’re just a short drive away.

History of Falcon Heights

Falcon Heights is one of the younger St. Paul suburbs, though it was settled in the 1850s like much of the area and has seen quite a bit of important history. In fact, being home to the Minnesota State Fairgrounds means it was where Teddy Roosevelt first used the phrase “Speak softly and carry a big stick” in a speech, and Curtiss Northwest Airport (now a park called Curtiss Field) saw Charles Lindbergh, Speed Holman, and Phoebe Fairgrave land and take off.

In 1949, residents were given the option to be annexted into Roseville or St. Paul, and chose to incorporate into their own city instead.
